THE ACEDEMY UNIT
ACADEMIC SECRETARY, MR. PHILIP EGGA MAGA
The Academic Unit is located in the central administrative arm of the institute under the Office of the Director General to cover academic operations of the Institute. This unit liaises with all the departments of the Institute to include the Tourism and Travels; Hospitality and Catering Administration and Supplies; Finance and Planning, Consultancy and Information services.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACADEMIC UNIT
- Reporting and responsible to the Director General (DG);
- Advise the DG on all academic matters including awards of certificates;
- Co-ordinate the planning and execution of academic activities and events for the Institute;
- Handle students admission, graduation and post graduation matters;
- Responsible for the collation of developed programmes curricular;
- Serve as secretariat to the Institute Academic Board;
- Ensure compliance with academic regulations and standards in all academic operations;
- Keep custody of all Institute’s programme/courses certificates;
- Handle students’ welfare and discipline matters;
- Co-ordinate researches, academic budgets from the;
- Liaison between the academic and non academic communities;
- Handle any other academic matter as may be directed by the DG
OPERATIONS OF THE ACADEMIC UNIT
The Academic Unit operates within a structure of the following:-
- Reporting to the Director general
- Serving as the Secretariat of the Institute Academic Board;
- Running an internal structure to include;-
- Academic Registry in charge of all students admissions and registrations, issuance of certificates;
- Academic Planning in charge of academic planning, research and budgeting matters;
- Examination and Records whose duties are to keep records of examination results, issue statement of results, transcripts
- Students’ Welfare and Disciplinary matters in relation to students’ social life, medical, SUG, malpractices, vices and related matters.
